About Us

The Hamburg Gymnastic Club first opened its doors in April of 1975, becoming the first facility in Western New York and among the first in the nation specifically built for the sport of gymnastics. Its founder, Mr. Richard Hover, began teaching after-school classes in the Hamburg school system in the late 1950s. At a time when gymnastics was relatively obscure, Mr. Hover not only included it in his lesson plans but devoted more time to gymnastics than any other sport. He recognized early on that gymnastics is the best way to develop strength, flexibility, and coordination, enabling participants to excel in any sport.​Summer backyard classes sparked enthusiasm among both students and parents, inspiring Mr. Hover to believe that one day he could build a year-round facility for gymnastics. His dream became a reality with the opening of the Hamburg Gymnastic Club. Today, Dave and Barb Hover proudly continue Mr. Hover's work, teaching techniques, and coaching philosophy.
